Abraham Vanner
Ann, this is fantastic - thank you so much for contributing this. It is fascinating how Abraham links with the Estate is so many ways at difference times.
You can change what you have written at any time by clicking the 'edit' tab on the page.
I made a few changes to improve the layout of the page. For instance, If you start a line with a blank space, it puts the text that follows in a box -- so I've removed these.
I got rid of these
Also, I have added a few hyperlinks from the text. You can do this easily by putting square brackets [[ ]] around the text you want to make a link, e.g. [[Coppid Hall Farm]] automatically gives you Coppid Hall Farm
I think some of the information could be taken out of the body of the article, and put into footnotes. You can do this by adding <ref></ref> tags, for instance:
Abraham died suddenly on 9 May 1874 at Newport aged 68<ref>''The Isle of Wight Times'', Thursday 21st May 1874. “On the 9th instant, somewhat suddenly, Mr. Abraham Vanner, many years landlord of the Sloop Inn, Wootton, aged 68.</ref> He was buried in Ryde cemetery.
will give you:
Abraham died suddenly on 9 May 1874 at Newport aged 68[1]. He was buried in Ryde cemetery.
Because the focus of this page is really Abraham Vanner (and his family), rather than the Sloop Inn, I wonder if it would be better if this page was called 'Abraham Vanner'? Perhaps he deserves his own page.
Best wishes,
